Linux Systems Engineer / DevOps Engineer

Location: Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid)
Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are partnering with a leading Irish wealth management organisation to appoint an experienced Linux Systems Engineer / DevOps Engineer to join their Information Systems function. This role will sit at the core of the firm’s Linux hosting and cloud infrastructure, supporting business-critical platforms in a highly regulated financial services environment.

The Role

In this role, you will take ownership of the day-to-day operation, stability, and security of the Linux hosting environment, working closely with internal technology teams and third-party vendors. You will be responsible for incident and request management, system administration, automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of DevOps standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage incidents, service requests, and other ticket types associated with the Linux hosting environment, ensuring adherence to defined SLAs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across ICT services in collaboration with Information Systems colleagues.

  • Perform daily Linux system administration activities, ensuring systems and servers are operating optimally.

  • Administer and support enterprise Linux environments, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and container platforms.

  • Manage and monitor cloud-based infrastructure, primarily within Microsoft Azure.

  • Maintain system performance, availability, security, and resilience through proactive monitoring and alerting.

  • Ensure Linux environments are fully patched and compliant with security and feature updates.

  • Support and enhance automation using tools such as Ansible and scripting.

  • Work closely with third-party vendors on support, upgrades, and issue resolution.

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and enforcement of DevOps policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.

  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring backup and recovery procedures are current and effective.

  • Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8; RHEL 10 upgrade planned)

  • Container Platform: Red Hat OpenShift on Azure (ARO)

  • Automation: Ansible Automation Platform, Automation Hub, Bash scripting

  • Version Control: Git (Bitbucket), SVN

  • Collaboration & Tooling: Jira, Confluence

  • CI/CD: Jenkins, SonarQube, Sonatype

  • Security: Rapid7, Aqua Security, OSSEC

  • Monitoring: Opsview, Prometheus

  • Logging: EFK, Loki, Splunk

  • Cloud: Microsoft Azure

Requirements

Experience & Background

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Linux Systems Engineering, DevOps, or similar role.

  • Strong hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux environments.

  • Preious experience within financial services or other highly regulated environments is highly desirable.

  • Proven experience working with third-party vendors and managed service providers.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Linux concepts, administration, and troubleshooting.


  • Experience supporting containerised platforms and cloud-based infrastructure.


  • Strong understanding of DevOps best practices, monitoring, logging, and automation.


  • Knowledge of security controls, patching, and system hardening within Linux environments.


  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development tooling.
